Capacity Building
Capacity building has been accepted and recognised as one of the most important
tools in building up a committed team of functionaries to act as catalyst in
bringing attitudinal & behavioural changes in the community. At the same time
it’s also admitted that knowledge based training adopting class room approaches
does not indeed produce the desired change. In realisation of the above, class
room training along with field exposure, field work and community participation
have become an in-built mechanism of OVHA training process. There are three
types of training organised by OVHA for its wide varieties of clientele groups.
These are In house/ Central, Needs based field Training and Request Training.
These training are organised with the objectives:
- To build up human relationship.
- To develop knowledge, aptitude and skills of different cadres of NGO workers.
- To link the learning through the process of individual – group – community
.
- To self sustain.
- To Internalize the fact of learning at the time of implementation at community
level.
The programmes conducted under this training programme are:
- COMMUNITY HEALTH MANAGEMENT (MODULAR COURSE).
- TRAINING OF TRAINERS.
- MALARIA WORKERS TRAINING.
- MALARIA MICROSCOPIST TRAINING.
- TRAINING ON FIRST AID.
- REPRODUCTIVE AND CHILD HEALTH.
- PROJECT FORMULATION.
- TRAINING ON INFORMATION, DOCUMENTATION AND COMMUNICATION.
- TRAINING ON HIV/AIDS/STD.
- TRAINING ON GENDER AND HEALTH
- TRAINING ON SCHOOL HEALTH.
- TRAINING ON ENVIRONMENT AND HEALTH.
Similarly, needs based field trainings are organised as per the needs of the
zones and member organisations. Some of the trainings are:
- COMMUNITY NUTRITION.
- FILARIA AND WATER BORNE DISEASES.
- CLINICAL MANAGEMENT OF COMMUNICABLE DISEASES.
- PREVENTION AND CONTROL OF TUBERCULOSIS.
- INCOME GENERATION ETC.
- SICKLE CELL DISEASE.
Other type of training is request trainings. It is conducted as per the request
of the different organisations both Government and NGO. Curriculums are developed
on the basis of the organisations need and nature of training. It is usually
conducted at their work place. Some of the clients of this type of trainings
are:
- OMFED, Department of Women and Child Development, Human Resource Development,
Govt. of India, New Delhi.
- World Vision .
- Indian Red cross Society .
- Orissa State AIDS Control Society.
- State Institute of Health and family Welfare.
- LEPRA INDIA.
- NGOs .
